The Arizona Center for Civic Leadership at the Flinn Foundation enhances civic life in Arizona through civic education, engagement, and leadership-development programs.

The Center, which has provided nonpartisan, independent programming since 2011, views civic leadership as requiring clear vision, deep knowledge, hard work, and a willingness to bridge differences to build consensus on solutions that advance our state.

Programs of the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership include:

  • The Flinn-Brown Fellowship, the Center’s cornerstone initiative, annually selects a cohort of Arizona leaders for the Flinn-Brown Academy and participation in the Flinn-Brown Network. An immersive learning experience for accomplished community leaders from diverse backgrounds, Fellows engage in rich and civil discussions with policymakers, thought leaders, and political experts; form professional connections within a robust peer network; and gain profound understanding of how to contribute to addressing Arizona’s most pressing issues through a variety of paths into public service.
  • CivEx, or Arizona Civic Exchange, delivers free educational webinars and workshops to the public so that Arizonans become better-informed on policy and political topics impacting our state.
  • Flinn Young Leaders emphasizes the value of civic learning and helps teens build necessary skills and knowledge as they imagine unique paths to civic responsibility and making a difference in their communities.

The Flinn Foundation administers all programs of the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership. The Thomas R. Brown Foundations of Tucson partners with Flinn to support the Flinn-Brown Fellowship.
