How George Floyd protests led to a community-created exhibition in Arizona / Southwest Contemporary

The Arizona State University Art Museum in Tempe is hosting the exhibition, “Twin Flames: The George Floyd Uprising from Minneapolis to Phoenix” through July 28—the first formal museum exhibition featuring a vast selection of objects left at the Minneapolis intersection where George Floyd was killed in 2020.


Children’s Museum Tucson receives $35,000 grant / Tucson Weekly

Children’s Museum Tucson has received a $35,000 Grants for Arts Projects award from the National Endowment for the Arts—the museum’s first ever NEA grant—which will go toward the Art After Dark program held the second Saturday of the month.


21 Arizona artists awarded research & development grants / Arizona Commission on the Arts 

Awarded through a competitive application and review process, 21 Arizona artists will receive $5,000 Research & Development grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts. The 2024 grants will help the artists advance their artistic practice, expand their creative horizons, and deepen the impact of their work.

The Sedona Arts Center will present Celebrate Sedona, an afternoon of music and art, on Sunday, Feb. 25. Vision & Sound is an immersive arts program that broadens the understanding and appreciation of Black artists, musicians, and scholars and serves to amplify Black voices and their achievements in Arizona.  


The Tucson Museum of Art celebrates 100th anniversary / KVOA

The Tucson Museum of Art is celebrating its 100th anniversary and will host a centennial gala on March 16. The museum, which has been at its current site since 1975, has moved a number of times and even changed its name.


Local artist grateful, excited after selling first piece at Oro Valley art gallery / KGUN

The Art in Oro Valley Gallery Exhibition, on display through early May at the Roche Tissue Diagnostics campus, is a collaboration with the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance to celebrate Oro Valley’s upcoming 50th birthday. 


Arizona House Of Representatives proclaims February 15 Arizona Theatre Company Day / Broadway World

The Arizona House of Representatives officially proclaimed Feb. 15 Arizona Theatre Company Day. This decision recognizes Arizona Theatre Company’s leadership role in the state’s artistic community for 57 years.
