Arizona Commission on the Arts hires Jacky Alling as interim executive director / Arizona Commission on the Arts

The Arizona Commission on the Arts announced the hiring of Jacky Alling as interim executive director, who comes to the agency from Arizona State University’s Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation and, prior to that, the Arizona Community Foundation.

The Phoenix Symphony has selected orchestra veteran Peter Kjome to serve as the organization’s new President and CEO. Most recently, Kjome served in the same role with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and was a professional oboist earlier in his career.

Bearsun gives his soles to the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff / Arizona Daily Sun

Bearsun, the giant-headed mascot-like bear character created by Jesse Larios, returned to Flagstaff recently to present a deed of gift that would grant the Museum of Northern Arizona ownership of Bearsun’s battered leather moccasins. The moccasins had been gifted to Bearsun when he entered the Navajo Nation during his 2021 walk across America.


Donor gives $50K to Kingman theater / Today’s News-Herald

Kingman Center for the Arts and the Beale Street Theater Renovation Project announced a $50,000 donation from Scott Preston of Preston Investments. The donation will allow the theater to complete demolition and interior framing, install windows and doors, and complete interior concrete ramps.
