Support to expand the Cultural and Academic Research Experience (CARE) program, which recruits diverse high-school students for an eight-week STEM-based research and personal-development experience on NAU’s Flagstaff campus. CARE, established in 2019, is an initiative of NAU’s College of the Environment, Forestry and Natural Sciences (CEFNS), Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (OURCA), and Honors College. This grant supports two important enhancements: (1) Bringing a cohort of 20 students to live on-campus in the Honors College residence hall for the program; and (2) Strengthening infrastructure for faculty and peer mentorship and program evaluation toward long-term sustainability.
