[Source: The Herald] – Residents in the area put their cooking grease to good use on Friday by taking advantage of Sierra Vista’s first day-after-Thanksgiving grease recycling event.

The event is part of the city’s fat, oil and grease (FOG) recycling program, which is starting to focus on educating local residents and established three permanent drop-off sites earlier this month, said Hector Hagele, program manager.  The program was established seven years ago to reduce grease going through the city’s sewage plant because it slows the natural process used to treat waste water.
