PHOENIX—The Flinn Foundation has released “Action and Impact,” a report that presents the organization’s current grantmaking priorities and activities across its four program areas.
The report highlights the results of a comprehensive review of the Phoenix-based philanthropy’s strategies to ensure grants and programs were meeting contemporary opportunities and needs. These actions and commitments are now making an impact throughout Arizona in the biosciences, civic leadership, arts and culture, and the Flinn Scholars Program:
Biosciences
The report describes new grants and initiatives to complement continuing priorities to advance Arizona’s fast-growing bioscience sector. Included are plans for an April launch of an updated Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap, the long-term strategic plan commissioned by the Foundation to guide the development of Arizona biosciences.
Civic Leadership
The Arizona Center for Civic Leadership, launched in 2010 to strengthen civic leadership throughout Arizona, has created three inter-related initiatives including the Flinn-Brown Civic Leadership Academy that continues to grow its statewide reach.
Arts and Culture
A new grants program to benefit the state’s largest arts and culture organizations is underway, encouraging creative programming that supports long-term sustainability.
Flinn Scholars
The Flinn Scholars Program, a 28-year-old merit-based program for Arizona’s highest-achieving students in partnership with the state universities, continues to offer new enhancements including the first summer class trip to China.
“The Flinn Foundation’s actions—strategic grants, development of talent, and other offerings—are truly having an impact throughout Arizona,” said Jack Jewett, President & CEO of the Flinn Foundation. “Our four program areas may be diverse, though they target a single goal—our mission to improve the quality of life for Arizonans today and in the future.”
The Flinn Foundation is a Phoenix-based, private, nonprofit philanthropy established in 1965 by Dr. Robert S. Flinn, a prominent cardiologist, and his wife, Irene Pierce Flinn.
