The University of Arizona has announced plans to build a $136 million research building on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus next to other university facilities and private research institutions, such as the Translational Genomics Research Institute.

The 10-story, 245,000-square-foot Biosciences Partnership Building, which will be the tallest on the campus, is expected to take 26 months to build.

The 30-acre Phoenix Biomedical Campus at Seventh and Van Buren streets would be 25 percent built out with the completion of the research building.

The Arizona Board of Regents are set to vote in June whether to approve the project, which would be funded through bonds paid for largely with state lottery money.
