[Source: The Arizona Republic] – A cure for Alzheimer’s disease could be decades away, but there’s plenty you can do in the meantime to protect your brain.

“The reality is that whatever your mother told you when you were growing up could help you now,” says clinical neuropsychologist Leslie Baxter of Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. “Eat right. Exercise. Do your homework.”

Just turn that last admonition into a more grown-up “challenge your mind,” and you’ll have a solid base from which to battle the progressive disease and other forms of dementia.
