If you are an excelling Arizona high-school senior, now is the time to apply for the most prestigious college scholarship available in the state.

The application is open for the merit-based Flinn Scholarship, which covers tuition, fees, housing, and meals at one of Arizona’s three public universities, at least two study abroad experiences, plus membership in a remarkable network of nearly 700 current and alumni Scholars.

About 20 Flinn Scholars are selected each year for the full-ride scholarship valued at more than $130,000.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Oct. 19.

The Flinn Scholarship application is comprised of:

  • Forms that collect biographical data and information about current studies, extracurricular activities, and employment;
  • Three essay prompts and two short-answer questions; and
  • Two teacher recommendations, a counselor report, an optional counselor recommendation, and a transcript.

Unlike the previous two years, ACT or SAT test scores are required to advance in the process, but there is not a minimum test score to apply.

On Sept. 20, the Flinn Scholars Program will host a live, virtual information session starting at 6 p.m. for students, parents, teachers, and counselors. The session will feature current Flinn Scholars and university representatives discussing the opportunities and resources available at the honors colleges of Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona.
