Establishment of a novel magnetic-resonance-imaging approach to non-invasively characterize abnormal cellular properties that occur in the muscles of patients suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Such an approach would greatly improve clinicians’ ability to track disease progression and more quickly evaluate treatment response. A physician/Ph.D. team from Barrow Neurological Institute will conduct the study. This grant is awarded under the Flinn Foundation Translational Research in Precision Medicine Seed Grant Initiative to support research collaborations between basic scientists and clinical researchers.
