A partnership with Banner Alzheimer’s Institute to test the hypothesis that significant changes in PACAP (a potent neuropeptide that provides nutrition and protection to nerve cells in the brain) and Sirt3 levels can be detected in early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and be used to predict conversion from asymptomatic and/or mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer’s disease; if the hypothesis is supported, it could provide the foundation for early diagnosis and novel therapies. This grant is awarded under the Flinn Foundation Translational Research in Precision Medicine Seed Grant Initiative to support research collaborations between basic scientists and clinical researchers.
