A partnership with Barrow Neurological Institute to identify biomarkers for idiopathic Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), CIDP with MGUS, and diabetic CIDP. Diagnosis of CIDP is typically challenging, especially if the patient is also diabetic, because of the overlap with diabetic neuropathy, the electrodiagnostic features of which are very similar to those seen with CIDP; the study will identify blood-based biomarkers that will enable early and effective treatments for CIDP and diabetics with CIDP. This grant is awarded under the Flinn Foundation Translational Research in Precision Medicine Seed Grant Initiative to support research collaborations between basic scientists and clinical researchers.
