Deadline 8/19 for U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Technology-Based Learning Initiative

The Employment and Training Administration invites applications for its Technology-Based Learning Initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to expand access to training, resulting in an increased number of workers trained — particularly in high-growth, high-demand occupations — and to meet the needs of industry for skilled employees. Approximately 20 grants ranging from $100,000 to $500,000 for a project period of up to three years may be made. Funds will be awarded to public, private for-profit, and private nonprofit organizations, including educational institutions and registered apprenticeship sponsors. Partnership with the publicly funded workforce investment system is required. Applications are due Aug. 19, 2008. For more information, visit
