Scholars get special ‘audience’ with playwright Albee at ASU

Before famed playwright Edward Albee delivered the 2004 ASU Centennial Lecture on 'the state of the arts,' a group of Flinn Scholars got a special audience with him. In addition to the public lecture during his four-day residence at the Barrett Honors College, Albee also participated in a private reception with the scholars and a more informal colloquium with ASU faculty and alumnus playwrights.

Flinn Scholars center stage at university graduations

Outgoing Flinn Scholars collected a cornucopia of awards at university graduation ceremonies in May 2004. Scholars took the top senior or graduate awards in seven departments and colleges at Arizona's public universities, and won three of the six overall achievement awards given by the University of Arizona.

The newest Flinn Scholars and the Flinn Scholars Program honored 20 Arizona educators yesterday for their outstanding dedication and service. Each educator was nominated by a member of the 2004 class of Flinn Scholars for having a significant impact on their education and development.

20 top students choose Arizona universities, Flinn Scholarship

Twenty of Arizona's premier high school seniors, heavily recruited by colleges and universities nationwide, have chosen to study in Arizona as Flinn Scholars. They will attend an Arizona public university in the fall on a scholarship that provides four years of study, academic-focused travel opportunities abroad, faculty mentorship, and other benefits.

Melamed named Honors College Outstanding Senior

The University of Arizona Honors College named Mark Melamed ('99) its Outstanding Senior for fall 2003.

2004 Flinn Scholarship open to top Arizona seniors

High-achieving Arizona high school seniors are encouraged to consider applying for the 2004 Flinn Scholarship, a four-year award to an Arizona public university valued at more than $40,000. Applications are available online for the 20 awards to be offered next spring.

Flinn Scholars Class of 2003 announced

Nineteen graduating seniors from Arizona high schools whose outstanding credentials could have landed them at nearly any university in the nation have been awarded Flinn Scholarships to attend an Arizona public university. The students were honored at an awards banquet yesterday at the Ritz-Carlton in Phoenix.

Mayes named spokesperson for Governor-elect Napolitano

Governor Janet Napolitano named Kris Mayes, a '90 Flinn Scholar, Director of Communications. Mayes served as Napolitano's campaign press secretary.

Gandomi awarded Truman Scholarship

Jon Gandomi ('99) was among the 76 scholars from 63 institutions to receive the 2003 Truman Scholarship. Jon is the 11th Flinn Scholar to win the prestigious award.
