[Source: The Arizona Republic] – Pressured by state budget cuts, the Arizona Board of Regents will vote Thursday on a proposal that would phase out a full-tuition scholarship tied to the AIMS test and replace it with a lower, tougher-to-get award.

The number of students eligible for the scholarship at the three state universities could be cut by two-thirds. An unknown number of those students would be eligible for other merit scholarships.

If the changes are approved, the current tuition waiver still would be available for this year’s high-school seniors, but high-school juniors would need higher grade-point averages or class rankings to be eligible for the full award.
