Advancing Arizona: 2018 Foundation Report
March 2018
In “Advancing Arizona,” the Flinn Foundation’s new report, President and CEO Tammy McLeod looks ahead at how the Foundation’s programs can make a difference across Arizona. “Broad improvement in quality of life depends on committing to collaboration within our institutions, across institutions, within sectors and across them, in every corner of our state,” writes McLeod.
And Board Chair David J. Gullen, M.D., looks back at the Flinn tenure of Jack Jewett, who enhanced existing programs in the biosciences, education, and the arts, and introduced a new civic-leadership initiative in partnership with the Thomas R. Brown Foundations of Tucson.
Examining Arizona’s Technology and Research Initiative Fund

The Milken Institute study of the Technology and Research Initiative Fund shows the more than $1.1 billion in TRIF funding to the state universities since 2001 led to a growth in startups, patents, and license income, the creation of new bioscience institutes, the retention and recruitment of faculty, as well as a growing return on investment.
