Save Our Saguaros’: Buffelgrass pulling and mural painting / The Daily Wildcat
February marked the start of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s “Save Our Saguaros” month, a time dedicated to bringing awareness and fighting buffelgrass. Expanded staff, new space helps connect Labriola Center with Native American community / ASU News
Labriola National American Indian Data Center recently opened at ASU inside Hayden Library with a mission to connect with the approximately 3,800 Native American students on campus and the surrounding Native American community. This multi-use area can be used for book talks, workshops, live music, video conferencing, and livestreaming events.
Arizona Humanities grant awarded to Sharlot Hall Museum Research Center for Yavapai Magazine digitization project / The Daily Courier
An Arizona Humanities grant will allow for the historic Yavapai Magazine to be digitized. The Yavapai Magazine covers 18 years of material on Arizona’s mining and ranching industries, among other topics.
FLINN SPOTLIGHT
Matt Rolland is a Class of 2005 Flinn Scholar and the director of programs at Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance (SAACA) in Tucson. SAACA recently shared with the Flinn Foundation select works from the Uncommon Knowledge exhibition, which highlights early disease diagnosis and patient self-advocacy. Matt is a member of two bands, Run Boy Run and RISO, and recently performed at the art exhibition reception hosted by the Flinn Foundation.
